FAQ

Questions people ask before they switch

What exactly is a Split Account Number?

It is a real Nigerian bank account number issued to you by MoniYes. Anyone can transfer money into it from any bank or app. The difference is that you decide, in advance, how every payment that lands in it is shared — for example 70% to your own account, 20% to a savings account and 10% to a family member — and MoniYes does the splitting automatically.

Which banks can I send my split shares to?

Any Nigerian commercial bank or licensed digital bank. Each beneficiary is simply a bank account number and bank name that you add and verify. You can mix banks freely — one share to GTBank, another to Kuda, another to UBA.

How fast do beneficiaries receive their share?

Payments into your Split Account Number are split and settled on a T+1 basis, meaning every beneficiary account is credited by the next business day. You can follow each payment and its split in your MoniYes ledger.

Can I change the percentages later?

Yes. You can update beneficiaries and their percentage shares at any time. The only rule is that the shares must always add up to exactly 100%. Changes apply to new payments received after you save them; payments already received are settled using the shares that were active at the time.

Is there a limit on how many beneficiaries I can add?

You can add several beneficiaries to a single Split Account Number, each with its own percentage. One of them is marked as your primary account, which also receives any rounding difference so that every kobo is accounted for.

What do I need to get verified (KYC)?

Because a Split Account Number is a real bank account, Nigerian regulations require identity verification. You will be asked for your BVN or NIN and a phone number. Verification is done once and keeps your account and your beneficiaries protected.

What does it cost?

Creating your MoniYes account is free. A small, transparent fee is applied per payment received into your Split Account Number and is shown clearly before you activate the account and on every ledger entry. There are no hidden monthly charges.

Can a business also use a Split Account Number?

Yes. Businesses on MoniYes get the same split settlement engine together with multi-vendor POS, storefronts and vendor payouts. If you run a business, head over to the For Businesses page.
